It is with a heavy heart that I have resigned all of my positions with West Malling Parish Council.

My frustration with the lack of progress with things has led to the decision to step down.

I have failed to achieve a tenth of the things I wanted to improve for the people of West Malling and I want to apologise to you for this.

I want to thank my fellow Parish Councillors for their hard work & giving up their time for free. I wish them all the success for the future. They do not get the recognition they deserve.

West Malling is incredibly luckily to have Claire as the Parish Clerk. A local lady, with real local roots, who has done so much great work, most of it behind the scenes. I will miss working with her lots.

I also want to thank the many neighbours (The Frog Lane gang), local residents & businesses that it has been a pleasure to work for. I am only sorry I couldn’t do more.

I remain as passionate about improving the lives of local people and making West Malling the very best place to live, work & visit.

The current climate doesn’t allow for any real progress to be made and to keep trying to affect change against this backdrop is impossible.

How to make this progress in the future is something I have yet to figure out.....

Anyone who knows me, knows I do not like to lose. I want the very best for my community and I can’t achieve that. It really makes me sad, very sad indeed.

Finally, thank you to Wendy & Amy, who have always been so supportive of my endeavours.

Not the end, just a different chapter ?

Richard
